Deal's Gap - Cross Continent Trip, The Anticipation

For some, a vacation is a quiet stroll on a private beach. Or maybe a relaxing cruise upon the Mediterranean. Myself, I have decided to tour across our great continent on a sportsbike!

This is not just a point A to point B kind of tour. Myself and four friends (Chuck, Stan, Michael, and Mark) have decided to venture out and explore the North American roads and eventually end up at the "promise land" for sportbikers; Deal's Gap or respectfully known as Tail of the Dragon. You see, as a sportbiker, there's nothing more thrilling and rewarding for me than being able to smoothly and successfully execute a series of challenging curves on the road. Deal's Gap boasts 318 curves in only 11 miles. With credentials like that, it easily tops my must-do list.

The trip was planned months in advance; four guys, 16 days, and an estimated total of 10,800 kilometers. The idea was to get to Deal's Gap and back while exploring interesting motorcycle roads en-route. We found lots of great roads on the west and lots in the Smoky Mountains where Deals Gap is. The problem was the piece of land in between, Mid America like the great prairies of Canada was just that; great prairies with nothing else worth seeing. Regardless, the flat lands had to be crossed to get to the promise land.
