Sharing our Beautiful Trailer Home

Many of my friends and family know that we bought a trailer a few years ago. Being a designer, I can't stand not modifying a place for the better. So I took on a project to do a complete makeover for our trailer which my daughter Kirsten lovingly calls "Paul". Now it is much more in vogue with a beach cottage feel.

We've towed Paul all over North America the last few years but this summer Paul will stay put in our beautiful resort in Sunshine Coast. We want to make Paul available as rental accomodation to our friends and family. It makes for a peaceful getaway and the resort that Paul is in is such a beautiful place nestled in trees and right on the water. They have boat rentals and a boat launch on site. There is a big dock for fishing or you can go out to the open waters for prawn catching and crabbing also. There is a play room and a huge playground with swimming pool for kids. You can see the resort here: http://www.phrm.ca/

Our trailer has a private bedroom with a queen bed and also a bunk bed perfect for kids. There is also 2 other convertible beds if you wish to have 2 more kids to stay for a total of 6. We are looking to rent it out only to people who will take care of it well since Paul is special to us. If you are interested or want to vouche for a friend/family then please contact us and we can give you the details. We are looking for $100/night for the whole trailer, min. 2 nights. Please note, this is rental for it to stay on site, not to be towed away.

There are many things to do in the area:

Fishing/Boating:
  • If you have a boat, then there is lots to catch such as Rock Cod, Salmon, Crab, Prawns, Oyster/Clam harvesting
  • The whole Pender Harbour area is very calm and protected so perfect for kayaking or canoeing
  • If you don’t have a boat, the resort has kayak, canoe, and power boat rentals. It’s best to book ahead of time.

Hiking:
·     There are some nice hikes close to the area. Some recommendations which you can find on www.sunshine-coast-trails.com are:
  • Pender Hill – This is about a moderate 0.9km (30-45 mins) hike with some incline. The reward is a beautiful panoramic view of the whole Pender Harbour. The trail head is about 10 mins drive from the trailer.
  • Mount Daniel – This is a moderate 1.5km (40-60 mins) hike that is a little longer than Pender Hill with a similar incline. The reward is also a beautiful overlook of Pender Harbour. The trail head is about 15 mins drive from the Trailer.
  • Skookumchuck – This is a very popular and easy hike with very little incline. It leads to the locally famous Skookumchuck Rapids. Very good for kids. The trail head is towards Earls Cove which is about 20-30 mins drive north of Pender Harbour. You can spend a good half day there.
  • Katherine Lake – Katherine Lake Park is a nearby park where you can swim in or walk some of the few trails around. It’s only a 5 min. drive from the Trailer.

The Resort:
You can always just stay at the resort and enjoy the facilities:
  • Firepit
  • Swimming Pool
  • Dock (Kids can fish for small Shiners off the dock)
  • You can BBQ at the Gazebo overlooking the ocean (beside the boat launch)

Nearby Stores/Amenities:
If you need to get anything, there are a few stores nearby and along the way.
  • Sechelt Independent Grocer – This is in Sechelt and makes for a great halfway break to get any groceries you may need
  • Sechelt Aquatic Center – This is also in Sechelt and a great public pool for kids. They have a Lazy River and Water Slide.
  • John Henry’s Marina – This is 5 mins drive from the Trailer and is the only place close by for Alcohol
  • Laverne’s Grill – Cute little burger place that serve’s the best Milkshakes! 5 mins to drive but you can also just enjoy the walk there.
  • Ruby Lake Restaurant – This is a really good up-scale Italian restaurant on your way to Earl’s Cove.
